Edward M. Marshall, Ph.D., PCC Adjunct Professor of Leadership, Emeritus Pratt School of Engineering, Duke University. 

Dr. Marshall joined the Pratt School of Engineering in July, 2016, coming from a distinguished 35 year career in business as an executive coach, collaborative leadership consultant, author, and thought leader in trust and collaboration. As President of The Marshall Group, LLC, Dr. Marshall has worked in the C-suite and with senior and middle managers of Fortune 500 companies like DuPont, Microsoft, VMware, Marriott, Philips Healthcare, US Airways, and TIAA.

He is best known for his pioneering work in collaborative leadership where his Collaborative Method(sm) became a best practice at DuPont, and won the Excellence in Organization Development award from the Association for Talent Development. He has facilitated more than 150 change initiatives ranging from the strategic alliance between Marriott International and Host Marriott, to business process redesigns, mergers, IT integrations, and cultural transformations. As an ICF-certified executive coach at the PCC level, Dr. Marshall has helped more than 100 C-level and senior executives reach their professional goals. His industry focus has been in IT, healthcare, manufacturing, airlines and hospitality.

Dr. Marshall has worked with companies and organizations in South Asia, Africa, Europe, and North and South America. From 2009-13, Dr. Marshall was invited to be a Senior Partner for Organizational Leadership at the Center for Creative Leadership where he focused on client work, leadership strategy, and collaborative leadership initiatives. Dr. Marshall has taught leadership at the Pratt School of Engineering from 2016 to 2022. For several years, he was also on the Management faculty of the Fuqua School of Business where he taught leadership in the Cross-Continent MBA program before going full-time at Pratt.

He holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Masters from Syracuse University (summa cum laude), and a BA from Claremont McKenna College.

He holds coaching certificates from Duke University, the International Coach Federation, the Leadership Circle, and is certified in a range of 360 assessment instruments. Dr. Marshall has published three books on collaborative leadership and change. The first two awardwinning books were: Transforming the Way We Work: The Power of the Collaborative Workplace, and Building Trust at the Speed of Change. Edward has also co-authored three other books on culture and trust.

His third book, Leadership’s 4th Evolution: Collaboration for the 21st Century, was nominated for the Axiom Business Book Award. For over 20 years he also wrote a nationally syndicated column, In the Workplace, for American Cities Business Journals on workplace, team, change, and leadership topics. Dr. Marshall holds three service marks for his work in developing The Collaborative Method, and has won awards from the National Academy of Schools of Public Administration and Affairs, the Ford Foundation, and a Lifetime Achievement Award as a Top 15 Trust Thought Leader from Trust Across America.

Prof Mpofu is currently DSI-NRF SARCHi Research Chair in Future Transport Manufacturing Technologies at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).

Future transport manufacturing technologies are a key infrastructure to ensure cost effective manufacturing of rail-cars, buses, aircraft and ships.

The research focuses on developing manufacturing technologies for SMMEs that will ensure future technological capability with the associated commercialisation infrastructure through an incubator.

Sherry Wessels, PhD from the University of Oxford and an MBA from Harvard.

Sherry has a passion for developing deep benches of leaders across the globe. Frustrated by the constant criticism of poor leadership and equipped with leadership training approaches from some of the best institutions known to the world, she has merged her frustration with her expertise in leadership development to help leaders transform themselves and their environments.
In this work she offers her expertise as a leadership practitioner, coach, mentor and speaker.

Background and Industry Experience:
Sherry’s career spans more than 25 years as an expert in cultural transformation, formulating and driving HR and Leadership Strategies, consulting on various aspects relating to the development and growth of people in the business. She has helped a number of clients implement their People Strategy, mentored 1000’s of people as well as played a key role in Executive Coaching within diverse industries. Her projects, within large multi-national corporates ranged from the facilitation of Diversity Management to re-organisation and restructuring processes, to enabling leaders in creating their vision and supporting them to execute, as well as designing and facilitating team building programs to all levels from CEO’s to operators in Mining and Manufacturing. Leadership Development has been a core focus over the last 10 years enjoying immense success.

She is an Associate with the Center for Creative Leadership and has coached leaders at all levels. She is a member of the American Psychology Association, American Society of Training and Development, Society of Human Resource Management, ACMC (American Coaches Federation), and the Organisational Development Network. Additionally, she volunteers at POWA (People Opposing Women Abuse), sits on the Boards of WE-ROC (empowering women in recovery orientation), Uzima South Africa (coaching communities to learn and earn).

With over 20 years experience in the field of knowledge management, Kgothatso Mamabolo has experience in various industry sectors such a management consulting, government, mining and the UN.
 

She is a member of the Knowledge Management Southern Africa (KMSA) of South Africa and a speaker at conferences on a variety of topics within knowledge management. She contributes thought leadership on knowledge management through various platforms. Lekau Mohajane, Masters of Management in Public and Development Management (MM P&DM) with Wits Business School and a certificate in Practical Project Management (PPM) with UNISA School of Business Leadership.

In his thirty-one (31) years of work experience, twenty years were of consulting vastly through the work community development participatory planning, learning and facilitations.


Trained outside South Africa on using participatory community planning methodologies (such as Participatory Rural Appraisals (PRA) and Participatory Learning and Action (PLA)), he started working mostly in the water sector in training, facilitation, research and community relations management in the agricultural engineering sector, NGO sector and the bulk water treatment and distribution sector.

Lekau achieved 100% success rate as a Provincial Programme Manager as an Implementing Agent in the Project management of the Government’s Infrastructure Community Based Public Works Programme assisting the six (6) District Municipalities in their design and planning of the infrastructure projects through business planning and approvals in both Limpopo and Bojanala. He

Lekau was also the first Implementing Agent in the planning and implementation of the greening communities through the creation of community parks and planting of trees of the Department Agriculture and Environmental Affairs (DEA). 

He then ventured more into Project Management and Strategic Planning consulting services while still acting as an Implementing Agent for other National Government Infrastructure programmes aimed at local job creations specializing in Project Management.

His partnership with other specialists’ consultants saw him doing more team work on Strategic Planning facilitations on various Government Departments and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), and in providing advice on municipal strategic and infrastructure planning processes.)

Her qualifications include:

Andrew Clarke after studying B Comm Marketing,

Andrew armed himself with a Diploma in Copywriting at the AAA School of Advertising, achieving distinctions in all subjects. He then joined the advertising industry, gaining invaluable experience at some of the country’s leading agencies. He quickly moved up the ranks to become a Creative Director with over 15 years’ industry experience. During this time, he managed accounts such as Apple Computer, Bridgestone/Firestone, Proudly South African and Autopage Cellular and won both local and international awards for blue-chip brands, including BMW.

Andrew then left the mainstream industry to become an independent creative consultant, operating as Andrew Clarke Creative Communications. He now provides creative direction, strategy, concepts, copywriting, scriptwriting and directing through all media (through-the-line, audio-visual & digital/new media) to various industry-leading entities, including a variety of advertising and marketing agencies and production companies across the country, collaborating with them to service numerous high-profile clients, such as Woolworths, Spier Wines, Metropolitan Life, FRANK.net, Old Mutual, MWEB and South African Breweries.

Richard George, PhD in Marketing at the University of Cape Town (thesis focused on tourism consumer behaviour in the context of crime).

Richard was the convenor of the Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism Management, as well as a senior lecturer in Services Marketing, at the School of Management, University of Cape Town. He headed the Tourism Research Unit in the School of Management, UCT.


His key areas of expertise
Teaching the following subjects: research methods, consumer behaviour, destination marketing, principles of marketing, CSR/ESG, and digital marketing. He leads on a number of undergraduate modules and ensure that teaching is underpinned by appropriate research and scholarly activity. He also supervises undergraduate research projects and Master’s dissertations. With well-developed communication and interpersonal skills as well as having lived in several countries, he is effective when working with a diverse group of students from different cultural backgrounds.

He has published a number of books including Marketing South African Tourism, Cape Town: Oxford University Press, 2004, which is now in its second edition; South African Travel and Tourism Cases, Pretoria: Van Schaik Publishers, 2003. He has written a number of papers on the subject of backpacking tourism.

Recently, he had a book published George, R. (2021). Marketing Tourism and Hospitality: Concepts and Cases, London: Palgrave Macmillan. The second edition is contracted and due to be published in April 2024. The book focuses on the marketing of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in tourism, particularly in an emerging market context. He has written 6 books, approximately 12 book chapters for edited books, and over 30 research papers in the field of tourism marketing.
